The new audio visual installation Storkwinkel on Saturday August 16, 6 pm, during the final event of 47. Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik (Darmstadt Summer Course 2014).
Storkwinkel is a multi-channel audio and visual composition departing from fine-focused observations and phonography of flat in an Berlin altbau. Its a investigation into the micro-acoustics of interior space: white rooms, tall ceilings, high windows; vestibules, unusual corners and sharp angled-edges. The work departs from precise amplifications of space and surface, taking the altitude and angle of each room to discover its tones, harmonics, and the audible evidence of daily activity within and without.
Storkwinkel is commissioned by Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt (IMD), Germany. Coproduction by Berliner Künstlerprogramm des DAAD with Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt. Supported by the DAAD Bonn and Danish Arts Foundation.
